It felt like November, but it was still a good weekend up in Wisconsin. Highlights: bear sitting alongside a highway, dog time, the world’s best fish fry and a stop at a maple syrup shack.

Mayo Clinic Square
Everybody hates the abandoned fortress Block E has become, and it’s very exciting to see construction underway on its transformation to Mayo Clinic Square. It’s a $50 million project being completed by RSP Architects. Here’s an article from the Star Tribune on the project.

Velo Apartments
As the Business Journal reported on December 17, Opus is planning to start construction in April on its bike-themed Velo Apartments on the old Merit Printing site at 103 Second Street North in the Warehouse District. I really like the design of this building, especially the little blue corner element.

St. Paul Saturday Drive
I took a Saturday drive down the Central Corridor route and ended up at the St. Paul riverfront.
Grain Belt Terraces
Right next to the old Grain Belt Brewery on Marshall in NE, the Grain Belt Terraces is designed by Kaas Wilson Architects.
